Vanessa Vineyard 2014 Meritage, Similkameen Valley, $40
By Great Northwest Wine on March 21, 2019

One of the most fascinating young vineyards in the Pacific Northwest continues to mature in the Similkameen Valley, 20 miles northwest of Oroville, Wash. In the hands of British Columbia visionary Howard Soon, this Cabernet Franc-leaning blend with Cabernet Sauvignon (35%) and Merlot (28%) stays true to the lead grape with dusty herbs running from start to finish. In between there’s dark Bing cherry, blackberry and toastiness in a nicely balanced structure that’s long and fleshy with baking spice and blueberry juiciness.
