Division Villages 2013 L’Isle Verte Chenin Blanc, Washington, $17
Portland’s urban wine scene often ventures beyond Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley, and Thomas Monroe exemplifies this dry style Chenin Blanc from 35-year-old Yakima Valley plantings at Willard Farms in Prosser, Wash. Aromas feature apple blossoms, lemon pepper and baked bread, backed by flavors of apple and pear. There’s pleasing richness on the midpalate, which easily gives way to blood orange acidity with a finish of Limeade.
