Seattle Wine & Food Experience this weekend

SEATTLE – Northwest wines showed well in the second annual Seattle Wine & Food Experience Wine Awards competition.

California wines claimed the top three spots of the judging, but wines from Washington and Idaho occupied most of the gold and best-of-class positions.

About 190 wines from more than 65 wineries were judged by Great Northwest Wine’s tasting panel under blind conditions.

The annual Seattle Wine & Food Experience takes place Sunday at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall. It begins at 1 p.m. Tickets are $55. VIP tickets are sold out.

This year, a new kick-off event called Pop! Bubbles & Seafood, will be staged today at Seattle Center. It begins at 6 p.m. Tickets are $65.

Both events are produced by Peha Promotions, owned by longtime Seattle wine event maven Jamie Peha, who also operates TableTalk Northwest.

This weekend, more than 100 wineries will pour 600 wines. In addition, food, beer and spirits will be served during the event.
