Union Wine Co. 2013 Alchemist Chardonnay, Willamette Valley, $28

Union Wine Co.-2013-Alchemist ChardonnayThe top brand in Ryan Harms’ three-tiered program at Union Wine Company is Alchemist, and rather than sourcing from throughout the state as he does for Underwood, here is his focus is on the Willamette Valley. The Chardonnay is rich, elegant and inviting from start to finish, opening with aromas and flavors of peaches and cream, pineapple, butter and banana chips. While it’s indeed a full-bodied style, crisp acidity and a lemony finish impart delicious length.
