Northwest wines win top medals at Florida competition

Kiona Vineyards Winery on Washington’s Red Mountain won three gold medals at the 2013 Florida State Fair International Wine Competition.

EAST PALATKA, Fla. – Northwest wines won 12 gold medals from the 26th annual Florida State Fair International Wine Competition.

Leading the way with three gold medals were Barking Frog, a winery in Carlton, Ore., that uses primarily Washington grapes, and Kiona Vineyards Winery on Washington’s Red Mountain. Kiona also received six silver medals.

Kitzke Cellars on Candy Mountain in Washington earned two gold medals.

Also winning gold medals were Dos Estevan Wines, Madsen Family Cellars, Nodland Cellars and Westport Winery.
