Columbia Winery 2014 Grenache Rosé, Horse Heaven Hills, $26
Canadian native Sean Hails targets one of Washington’s most expensive and hard-to-find varieties — Grenache — for his beautiful rosé that opens with the color of blood range and offers a nose of strawberry taffy, black raspberry, nectarine, violet and the minerality often found in the background of wines from the Horse Heaven Hills. On the palate, its delicious structure is focused on white strawberry and white peach with more nectarine in the finish. His Woodinville winery’s culinary team suggests serving this alongside a garden salad drizzled with cranberry vinaigrette or a plate of cheese and charcuterie.
